Symptom |
The virtual IP address of a VRRP group cannot be pinged. |
Condition |
1. A VRRP group is created, and the local device is configured with a higher priority than the other device in the VRRP group. 2. The VRRP negotiation on the local device times out. As a result, the local device switches from the backup state to the master state. 3. When the local device is switching to the master state, it receives VRRP protocol packets from the peer device. |
Impact |
Traffic fails to be forwarded. |
Severity |
Minor |
Root Cause |
When the local device is switching to the master state due to VRRP negotiation timeout, it receives VRRP protocol packets from the peer device. In this case, it updates its previous VRRP status from backup to master, and determines not to report the route destined for the virtual address of the VRRP group based on the previous VRRP status. |
Solution |
The local device checks whether its previous VRRP status changes when switching from the backup state to the master state. If the status changes, the local device reports the route destined for the virtual address of the VRRP group. |
